Columbia College Announces Two Institutional Appointments
Dr. Mario Cordova has been appointed director of special programs and Jeff Whalen as auxillary services manager at Columbia College.
Dr. Cordova has been interim director of special programs at the college since October, 2005 and has worked for the past 30 years in postsecondary education. He holds an associate degree in general studies from Bakersfield Junior College, a bachelor´s degree in sociology from San Jose State University, a master´s degree in counseling and guidance from Oregon State University in Corvallis and a doctorate in education policy and management from the University of Oregon in Eugene.
Jeff Whalen will supervise the operations of the Manzanita Bookstore and the college snack bar as the new auxiliary services manager. He replaces Sherry Bahten who retired on July 31st after working for 31 years at the college. Whalen comes to his new position with a wide range of retail experience including eight years of college bookstore management. Whalen holds an A.A. degree in general education from Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College in Redding and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from California State University, Chico.
