Especially if it’s to buy the votes of more than 800,000 student loan debtors. $39 billion that’s the amount of federal student debt the Biden administration will wipe out for those on income-driven repayment plans who have made 20 or 25 years of payments. The one-time adjustment will give borrowers credit retroactively for months that weren’t counted. This is separate from the $430 billion student-loan forgiveness plan the Supreme Court struck down last month but, in all likelihood, just as unconstitutional.
