President Biden continues to lie about the Republican’s plan for reining in budget deficits by claiming that they want to “sunset” Social Security. While that was proposed by one Senator, it failed for lack of second. The Republican Study Commission is, however, looking to raise the retirement age from 67 to 70, but not until 2040 when it would then be indexed to changes in life expectancy. The fact is, if the legislature had acted upon this years ago instead of portraying the attempt as “pushing granny off a cliff,” the fix could have been much easier.
