The Friends of Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee, in partnership with the Junior Livestock Committee, will host their annual Whiskerino Dinner Dance on Saturday April 6 at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds at 6:00pm. This is a signature event and marks the kick-off to the Fair.

In the fall of 2008, a group of Calaveras County residents decided to form a foundation with the purpose to enhance, support and create additional community involvement and participation while maintaining the amazing history the Fair enjoys. Friends of the Calaveras County Fair are continuously working on new projects and upgrades for the fairgrounds. The Junior Livestock Committee manages the annual junior livestock show and auction, while maintaining the livestock barns and facilities. The Junior Livestock Committee’s Auction provides the community an opportunity to invest in our youth and their future.

The Whiskerino Dinner Dance has a fine historic tradition in Calaveras County. The Whiskerino event dates back to the 1940s and was revitalized in the 1950’s and held for the next forty years. Along with the traditional Whiskerino contest, this year’s event will have a new band named Gunpowder and Lace, a local country band who will perform both past and present country hits.
