VETERANS DAYS REMEMBRANCE November 11

The Columbia Grenadine Belles and Columbia Militia will host the annual Veterans Day Remembrance in the Columbia Cemetery on Monday, November 11. The ceremony begins promptly at 10:55 a.m. in the Veteran’s Section with a flag raising, and traditional two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. to remember local veterans who lost their lives in war. The Grenadine Belles will explain the significance of Veterans Day and how it came into being and take a roll call of veterans buried in the Columbia Cemetery. To conclude this moving ceremony of remembrance, the Columbia Militia will fire a single volley and “Taps” will be played by a local bugler. The Columbia Cemetery is located at 22956 School House Street, Columbia – on the north end of Columbia State Historic Park, just behind the historic school house up on the hill.
