Angels Camp residents: Find out where your water comes from and the history of Utica Water and Power Authority dating back to 1852. The recently finished a video tells the story, it also showcases how the water supply for Murphys and Angels Camp is transported from the Sierra mountains using much of the same system built by gold miners in the 1850s.
Utica and the City of Angels Camp are jointly holding a free video premiere open to the public at 6 p.m. Monday January 9 at the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. We will give an overview of how water rights work and explain the Joint Powers Authority (JPA) governance structure. We’ll show the short (12-minute) film, and then there will be an opportunity for questions and answers from our community. We expect the event will last between 1 and 1.5 hours.
