Kick Off  -“CHAIRS, CHAIRS, CHAIRS – For the Arts Everyone has a Seat” Summer Fundraiser

Tuolumne County Arts kicks off their, “Chairs, Chairs, Chairs – For the Arts, Everyone has a Seat” Fundraiser in conjunction with the first ever “Tuolumne County Art Week,” put on by Visit Tuolumne County.

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park donated 36 very unusual chairs to benefit Tuolumne County Arts, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization. TCA put out a call to artists to pick up a chair and begin to transform it into a work of art. There will be an auction in late summer, and the highest bidder will have a chair to keep forever or display at their business as supporters of the ARTS.

Would you like to be in on the fun? Artists will be painting and decorating, embellishing and recreating the chairs for two Saturdays during ART week, April 10th and April 18th in Courthouse Park and CHAIRS will be available for pickup! If our 36 chairs are gone you will be able to use one of your own chairs! There is a $25 registration fee to participate and a that includes a limited membership in TCA.

For more information, please go to our website at www.mytuolumncountyarts.org or you can call us at 209-694-3198 for questions or to reserve a chair.

You will have all summer to complete your project. The auction will be late August, date and location still a work in progress. Each artist is expected to complete the decorating of the chair according to schedule and MUST return the chair for the auction. Your donation will be tax deductible at the value of your chairs selling price. Remember if you LOVE your CHAIR you can always bid to buy it at the fundraiser.

In addition to visiting us in the park, be sure and check out our sidewalk sale, happening in front of our new gallery space across the street at 21 N. Washington Street.
