Like a college course catalog, this outing promises drama, history, engineering, archaeology, anthropology, geology, and botany. We start with a moderately easy three-mile round trip between the college and Old Town Columbia with interpretation by Barbara Balen, an archaeologist retired from the forest service and a current Tuolumne Utilities District board member. After we return to the college, we’ll visit the campus’s Me-Wuk cultural site, the quarter-mile Segerstrom Arboretum Nature Trail, and the 1.5 mile Par Course/Fitness Trail with exercise stations. To RSVP and receive meet-up instructions, go to the “Contact Us” page at kaad-lp.org. Refer to TCT in the subject line. The Tuolumne County Trailhead program airs on KAAD-LP 103.5 FM (Sonora’s community radio station) on second and fourth weekends at 12:30pm; hikes are monthly on first Saturdays.
