NEW LOCATION — in Pinecrest on old Strawberry Road, see below. (20 miles from Sonora, at 5,600 ft elevation, on 108, 5 minutes from Pinecrest Lake.
June 28 the Tuolumne County Amateur Radio and Electronics Society (TCARES) will be joining other Amateur Radio operators (Hams) across the county in an annual radio contest. The object is to make as many contacts as you can in a 24-hour period using emergency power only. We cannot use any public utility for our power so we run on emergency power consisting of generators, solar, or batteries. The event runs from noon on Saturday June 28 till noon on Sunday June 29.
There will signs pointing the way and the event is open to the public so we invite everyone to come up and see what ham radio is about. Ham radio is a lot of fun and is useful in times of emergencies. So everyone please come up and check us out.
