There are seven trails totaling about 8 miles of easy hiking at Tuttletown Recreation Area. Tuolumne County Trailhead will take advantage of ease and go for distance on their first Saturday hike in February. We commence with the Heron Point Trail (1.5 miles) and interpretation by Ranger Pat Sanders. If you’re not interested in hiking all the trails, you may limit your day to Heron Point only. The manzanitas may be in bloom; their tiny, pink, vase-like blossoms attract hummingbirds. The lake also attracts eagles, Ospreys, and waterfowl. To RSVP and receive meet-up instructions, go to the “Contact Us” page at kaad-lp.org. Refer to TCT in the subject line. The Tuolumne County Trailhead program airs on KAAD-LP 103.5 FM on second and fourth weekends at 12:30pm; hikes are monthly on first Saturdays.
