THE ST. JAMES CONCERT PRESENTS MUSIC WITH STRINGS ATTACHED
May 26th at 3:00 P.M.
The Red Church, Sonora
The St. James Concert Series welcomes the return of the popular piano/cello duo, Music With Strings Attached, this time joined by violinist, Amy Lindsey for a program that includes music by Camille Saint-Saens, Joseph Haydn, and Clara Schumann as well as compositions by the artists themselves.
Carol Ann and Chase Loeb met in the beautiful mountains of Colorado while studying cello and piano performance at the University of Northern Colorado. Their musical travels led them to the vineyards of northern California and they found a new home in Lodi after graduating. This extraordinary duo plays classical, pop and jazz reimagined in both original compositions and classics. They interact with the audience with performance and educational story-telling. Their music often features a modern sound with the use of looped electric cello.
An Arizona native, Carol Ann performed with the Arizona Opera, the Phoenix Metropolitan Opera, and the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra. In 2010, she moved to Colorado to pursue a Master’s Degree in Cello Performance. She was Co-Principal of the University of Northern Colorado’s Symphony Orchestra, a soloist with the university’s Concert Choir, and was winner of the 2012 Southard Competition-Chamber Music Division.
Carol Ann currently records as a studio musician for collaborative projects. She has recorded for short films, commercials, and has been featured as solo guest cellist. She has also performed with the Stockton Symphony. She is currently an instructor at the B Sharp School of Music in Lodi and hosts community events at her downtown venue, The Middle C.
Pianist Chase Garrett Loeb, originally from the Colorado Rockies, began exploring music at an early age. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a major in solo performance. After moving to Lodi, he has been a collaborative pianist at the University of the Pacific and San Joaquin Delta College School of Music. Chase has a duel career in music production and composition. His compositions include music education projects such asMusical Math for Kids ™ and television shorts like Sig ‘n Hill. He currently instructs piano and digital music composition at the B Sharp School of Music.
Joining Chase and Carol Ann for this performance will be violinist, Amy Lindsey. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in violin performance at the University of Akron and her Masters of Music degree at the University of Nevada in Reno. Originally from Michigan, Amy began her musical studies at the age of 10 through her school’s instrumental music program.
She is the recipient of a Royal Oak Arts Council grant and was chosen as the 2015 Davis Fellow of Ohio’s Lancaster Festival. As a performer, she has shared the stage with a diverse group of musicians, ranging from cellist Amit Peled to the folk band, Trampled by Turtles. As a teacher, she has held private teaching positions at Firestone High School for the Performing Arts in Akron, Ohio as well as the University of Nevada, Reno. Amy currently performs with the Fresno Philharmonic, Reno Philharmonic, and Reno Chamber Orchestra, and teaches at the B Sharp School of Music.
A reception in the parish hall will follow the concert, giving the audience an opportunity to visit with the artists.
