If you enjoy being outdoors then come join our collaboration of naturalists and volunteers as we seek to find and record all of the plant and animal life located around Sierra Outdoor School!

A BioBlitz is an event where the community works together to collect real scientific data to find the biodiversity of an area. This BioBlitz at Sierra Outdoor school will help us understand how California’s drought is changing the ecology of the Sierra Nevadas. We need volunteers interested in exploring the outdoors to help us find as many species of plants and animals as can be found on our campus. Scientists and naturalists at the event will help all volunteers with identifying species. The data we collect will then be organized and used as a reference for future studies in the Sierra Nevadas.

No experience is needed, you can bring the whole family, and free continental breakfast and coffee is provided!

If you are interested in this event and want to know more, please email us at elizabethbentz@cusd.com or check out the event on the Sierra Outdoor School Facebook Page. This is a great opportunity for volunteers to engage in a community science project and create real scientific data about the changing ecology of the Sierra Nevadas. If you would like to join us in a fun event searching for plant and animal life outdoors, you can RSVP to elizabethbentz@cusd.com or RSVP on google forms by using this link https://forms.gle/x6txk5LM9F1VrsEw6
