PAWS Captive Wildlife Sanctuary Opens Doors to Public for Special 35th Anniversary Event on April 20 — Organization rescues and cares for elephants, big cats and bears!
The Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is opening its 2,300-acre ARK 2000 captive wildlife sanctuary in San Andreas, California, for a special 35th anniversary open house on Saturday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The natural habitat refuge, which is home to elephants, bears and big cats, is only open to the public for select educational events.
“PAWS is very proud to be celebrating 35 years of rescue, advocacy and sanctuary for captive wildlife,” said PAWS President and Co-founder Ed Stewart. “We look forward to sharing this special occasion and our important work for animals with those in the local community and beyond.”
Visitors will experience how the animals live at the sanctuary, while learning from PAWS’ staff and volunteers about the animals’ histories, their rescue stories, and important issues surrounding the use of captive wildlife. Shuttles will take visitors to the elephant habitats, where the Earth’s largest land mammals roam expansive environments. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking to areas where a tiger or bear may be spotted.
This special open house includes fun activities for kids, the PAWS gift shop, a silent auction featuring exciting and unique items, a chance to win great prizes in a raffle, and special gifts for everyone who becomes a new PAWS member that day.
A limited number of tickets are available. Prices are $50 for adults, $35 for seniors (65 and over), and $35 for children age 12 and under. TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE. No tickets will be sold at the gate on the day of the event.
To buy tickets online, visit https://conta.cc/2FZhveS, or call the PAWS office at 209-745-2606, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST, to charge by phone. Ticket sales close on Thursday, April 18, or earlier if this event sells out.
All proceeds from the 35th anniversary open house go directly to the care of the wild animals at PAWS’ three sanctuaries.
