There will be something entertaining for each and every member of the family when the Murphys Park Oktoberfest comes to Murphys for the second year on Saturday, October 14 from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. in the cool environs of Murphys Community Park.

There will be a variety of family games on the lawn area including giant pong, giant bowling, bean bag toss, giant jenga and more. A Corn Hole Tournament will begin at 1pm and registration for a team is $25 coordinated by Abe Metzger 209-559-2363.

There will be 3 German beers on tap with a $20 commemorative mug, a competitive Hold Your Beer Stein competition will be held during the day and the traditional barbeque bratwurst sausage, hoagie roll, German potato salad, coleslaw and apple strudel all for $20. As is the case with many of the day’s activities, proceeds will go to the Murphys Community Club, which has the responsibility to maintain the much-used community park.

From 1 – 3 p.m. traditional German oompa-style music provided by our own Calaveras Community Vintage Vibrations Band will fill the air. During the day traditional music will also be provided by DJ Rick.

Throughout the day into the afternoon, Helen’s Hut will be the place to go to purchase your bratwurst meal, hot dogs, nachos, ice cream, and a wide variety of beverages including beer and wine.

During the day you can purchase a floating pretzel for the $5 race at 2 p.m. with another to follow at 3 p.m. at $10. Prizes will be awarded. All proceeds for the day go back to our beautiful Murphys Community Park.

There is no admission charge for Murphys Park Oktoberfest and ample free parking is available nearby. Donations to help maintain the park are always gratefully received.

Murphys Community Park is located on Algiers St. in historic downtown Murphys. Membership in the Murphys Community Club is open to everyone and contributions are tax deductible. For further information, call 209-728-8093, or click on the Community Club site at murphyspark.com
