The Columbia College Community Chorus, with Conductor Dr. Daryl Hollinger, piano accompanist Mark Seiver, and chamber orchestra, presents its annual Spring Concert in the sanctuary of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sonora. The almost 50-voice chorus will give two performances the last weekend of April: on Saturday, April 27, at 3:00 pm and again on Sunday, April 28, at 3.

This concert features Schubert’s lyrical Mass in G for mixed chorus, chamber orchestra and soloists, a work which demonstrates the young composer’s maturity. In the second half of the program, the chorus performs Dr. Hollinger’s three joyous Psalm settings: Jubilate Deo!, Psalm 135, and Sing a New Song. Dr. Hollinger also collaborated with Murphys’ poet Carol Osterlund to create the stunning work, Tending the Soul, a collection of three songs: “Footsteps on a Far Shore,” “I Stand in God’s Cathedral,” and “I Dance.” The concert continues with the ever-popular singalong, concluding with American spirituals and music for film and theater.

Tickets are $20 presale ($25 at the door) and free for 18 and under (must reserve seat). Tickets are available for purchase from the Columbia College website. Visit gocolumbia.edu and scroll to “Events,” then “Get Tickets,” and choose the performance and number of tickets. If you cannot go online to purchase your ticket(s), or have questions, call 209-533-1532 for assistance.
