The Tuolumne County Trail Heads are excited about this outing! On the drive approaching the trailhead, we’ll observe the destruction of last year’s Donnell Fire and the monumental work of forest crews to remove hazards in order to open the area up to recreation. The hike itself is moderately strenuous. Starting at about 6,500’ with an easy walk along the Clark Fork River then ascending 500’ and mellowing out again. The turn-around point is 3 miles in at a waterfall overlook. Hikers may remain here to explore or join a one-mile extension (2 miles round trip) to the north edge of Clark Fork Meadow. On-leash dogs welcome. Bring hiking poles, water, trail snacks/lunch. To RSVP and receive meet-up instructions, go to the “Contact Us” page at kaad-lp.org. Refer to TCT in the subject line. The Tuolumne County Trailhead program airs on KAAD-LP 103.5 FM (Sonora’s community radio station) on second and fourth Sundays at 12:30pm; hikes are monthly on first Saturdays.
