Mother Lode Bonsai Club’s tree group planting demonstration will be conducted on Saturday, March 4 at 10 a.m. in the San Andreas Central Library, 1299 Gold Hunter Road (off Mountain Ranch Road) in San Andreas There is no admission charge and everyone is invited regardless of their levels of experience in bonsai.

The demo was moved from its original date in January due to inclement weather. Veteran club member, Vince Owyoung will lead the presentation, followed by a hands-on workshop. Participants in the workshop should bring a plant/tree, wire, tools and table covering, along with their questions and ideas. A raffle is also planned to offer bonsai items.

Tree group plantings (yose-ue in Japanese) is also known in bonsai as “forest style.” It is a group of trees with several sets of roots grown in a shallow pot or on a flat stone. Visually, the grouping represents a grove or forest setting.
