The Aronos Research Club is honoring volunteers, donors and members of the Friends of Aronos at an Appreciation Reception planed for Tuesday, February 13 at 6 p.m. at the Aronos Clubhouse located at 37 Elkin Street in downtown Sonora.

With 36 members the Aronos Research Club is the largest club in the Yosemite District of the California Federation of Women’s Clubs. Both men and women are welcome to become members.

“We have been serving Tuolumne County since we were created in 1915,” Elena Linehan, Aronos Research Club volunteer, said. “We would not have the success we’ve had without the support of the community. We’ve set aside this evening to thank the people who are not club members but have given time and donations to help us achieve our goals.”

Volunteers held replant the clubhouse garden and paint the interior and exterior of the building. Donors donated funds for the Adopt-A-Plant program to revamp the clubhouse garden with the assistance of the UC Extension Master Gardeners.

Local musicians give their time and talent to play the tunes at the monthly barn dance. Local businesses donate items for the silent auctions at the Spring and Fall Tea fund raisers.

“We couldn’t accomplish what we do without these non-members stepping up to help,” Linehan said. “We especially appreciate the Friends of Aronos members who annually contribute cash donations to the Aronos Research Club. This event is being held for us to take time to give thanks to these wonderful supporters.”
