Steve Anker will be the guest speaker in May. He manages the Priest Station Cafe and is a descendant of the Priest/Anker family. Steve will share the multi-generational history of his family, their part in the historical development of the area, Priest Station Cafe, and the surrounding Priest/Anker ranch.

During its heyday, Priest Station was a stage stop, boasting twenty-two buildings, including a hotel. It began as a trail created by the MiWuk, then became a mule train trail, and eventually evolved into a road with a stage stop at the top of an uphill climb of 1,500 feet in two miles. The station was a respite to travelers after their difficult journey.

In August 1926, a devastating brush fire destroyed all the buildings. /the fire raged for five days, but Priest Station was gone in a matter of minutes.
Mark you calendar May 10 and note the program will begin at 6:PM.
