Year-End’ Recap

Because the TCVB is on a fiscal year ending June 30, the annual dinner and installation of officers for the next fiscal year always takes place in July.

This year’s event was held July 18 at the Mountain Springs Golf Club where the board of directors, local government & business leaders and many bureau members gathered to celebrate the Bureau’s 29th anniversary and our region’s number one “economic stimulator” – tourism! Our most recent report indicates that tourism’s economic impact for Tuolumne County in fiscal 2010-2011 (most recent year that we have data for) went from $162 million to $169 million.

New officers for the board inducted include, Shirley Sarno of the The Gunn House Hotel as president, Jeff Costello of Mt. Brow Winery as vice president, Tricia Gardella of Here’s the Scoop/Local’s Make Good as secretary and Cindy Zelinsky of the Lazy Z Resort and Emberz Restaurant as treasurer.

Incoming and returning board members for 2012-13 include: Ron Patel, Black Oak Casino, Margaret Davis, Junction Shopping Center, Peggy Mosley, Groveland Hotel at Yosemite, Michael McCaffrey, McCaffrey House B&B, Donna Sisson, Yosemite National Park, George Segarini, TC Chamber of Commerce, Amber Jenquin, Dodge Ridge, Christina Wilkinson, Yosemite Chamber of Commerce, TC Supervisor Randy Handvelt, Charles Marangio, Promotion Club of Jamestown, Larry Cope, Director of the Economic Development Authority, Constance O’Connor, Central Sierra Arts Council, Sue Warren, Stanislaus National Forest, Jerry Fuccillo, GJF Engineering & Sonora Councilman Ron Stearn.
After announcing the new officers, Tim Wyman gave a recap in his “Year in review” and Shirley Sarno outlined the Marketing plan and goals for the coming year with her “Looking Ahead” Presentation.

Like any celebration awards were presented to the following:

Supervisor Dick Pland received the President’s Award for his contributions to tourism. The award was for his long-standing support of tourism in Tuolumne County and for his efforts in re-structuring the Tuolumne County Film Commission. His plaque thanked him for his “excellence in public service over the past 15 years”.

Tim Wyman was recognized for his service as outgoing president and outgoing member of the board and retiring marketing director, Sandy Gordon was recognized for her many accomplishments in helping promote our area to visitors from around the world.

Wyntress Balcher of the Manzanita House Bed & Breakfast Inn in Twain Harte for most consistent reporting rooms booked ( a very important tool for the bureau in marketing and guiding visitors to hotels with space)
It was a great evening of celebration for our largest private industry.
