Rate Adjustment Approved
At its public hearing held on June 18, the Groveland Community Services District (GCSD) Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve a phased increase in water and sewer rates. We want to extend our sincere thanks to every community member who took the time to attend, ask questions, and share their thoughts.
There was a strong community presence at the hearing, with many individuals speaking, reflecting a range of perspectives including support, opposition, and neutral comments. The Board greatly values this public input and considered all viewpoints in making its decision.
This was not an easy decision for the Board. We know that any increase in household expenses is difficult, and we truly appreciate your engagement throughout this process.
After extensive analysis and careful deliberation, the rate adjustment was approved to begin addressing our community’s most critical infrastructure needs. Many parts of our system are decades old and in need of critical repairs and upgrades. By taking action now, we can reduce the risk of system failures, protect public health, and avoid more costly emergency repairs in the future.
The rate increase also helps sustain the day-to-day operations necessary to keep our water and sewer systems running reliably. From routine maintenance and regulatory compliance to emergency response, stable funding ensures we can continue delivering essential services without interruption.
These rate changes are part of a long-term financial plan designed to spread costs more fairly and equitably, helping to reduce the burden on future generations. By acting now, GCSD can begin the necessary upgrades and replacements to maintain the systems our community depends on every day.
On behalf of the GCSD Board and staff, thank you again for your involvement, your understanding, and your ongoing commitment to the well-being of our community.
