Mother Lode Comments Discontinued
On April 2nd, the latest version of myMotherLode.com was unveiled and we appreciate all the feedback pertaining to the enhanced Mother Lode community website.
We have received many compliments on our new in-depth weather section and our mobile friendly delivery of content.
One area that has garnered differing opinions is the changes to registration and comments. The biggest concern has been privacy issues and having to register through Google+ and Facebook.
A majority of commenters have told us they do not like the new registration policy and desire to remain anonymous due to the size of our community and possible personal ramifications. Many shared they have no desire to participate in social networks. Others responded they liked the new policy and hoped it would improve the tone and civil discourse which was lacking at times. Social network registration polices differ which makes it impossible for myMotherLode.com to enforce our new legal first and last name policy.
As a result, myMotherLode.com has decided it is in the best interest of our community to discontinue all comments at this time.
The mission of myMotherLode.com will continue to be community focused, always providing the region with breaking news and information essential to the Mother Lode.
