Hike In Money For High-speed Rail

Sacramento, CA — The Associated Press reports California’s high-speed rail project is getting more funding and time. The California High-Speed Rail Authority has voted to give the largest private contractor another $96 million and two more years to do architectural and engineering work. However, the board warns it will exercise rigorous oversight on the project. The AP say the board told contractor Parsons Brinckerhoff that it has beefed up its senior management since the first contract was signed with the company in 2006. They vow they will not act as a rubber-stamp as some critics have charged.
