Steven Douglas Anderson was born in Oakland, CA on November 12,1951 and raised in Pittsburg and Sugar Pine, CA. We lost him after a hard fought, 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer on April 16, 2025, at age 73. Steve graduated from Summerville High School and attended Columbia College. He was a conscientious and hard worker throughout his life. Amongst other endeavors, he was a certified Harley Davidson mechanic and experienced carpenter. Steve never met a stranger and was very artistic and creative. He played guitar, ukulele, harmonica and just about any instrument he picked up. His pride and joy is his daughter, Olivia.

Steve is survived by his loving daughter, Olivia Anderson of Los Angeles,  CA; his mother Jere Maxfield of Sonora, CA; sisters Karen Spitze, Twain Harte, CA; Kristin Kraft, husband Mark, of Sonora; brother David Anderson, wife Evelyn, of Star, ID; nieces Erika Caldera, husband Bobby, and family of Sonora; Danika Batastini, husband Troy, of Cheney, WA and family; Jennifer Kesterson and son, of Soulsbyville, CA; Jessica Bauchman, husband Geoff, and family of Star, ID; Megan Anderson of Star, ID; and nephews Jesse Riedel, wife Jenny, and family of Jamestown, CA and Davey Anderson of Star, ID. He has 10 great nieces and nephews and 3 great-greats. Steve also leaves behind amazing friends that have been by his side throughout his ordeal.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents O.B. and Ellen Tiffin, and W. Ralph and Davilla Anderson of Tuolumne County; his father Douglas R. Anderson (2001) of Tuolumne; stepfather “Max” Maxfield (2000), brother-in-law, Dr. Terry Spitze (2021) and nephew Jimmy Anderson (2023).

Arrangements being handled by Terzich and Wilson of Sonora. Per Steve’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be at a later date.
