Sentencing For Multi DUI Offender

Sonora, CA — A jury has convicted Blake Michael Wright of Twain Harte for an April 2012 accident. The jury found Wright, 23 at the time, was under the influence of drugs. The head-on crash on Highway 108 west of the Mono Way turnoff occurred when Wright, driving eastbound, allowed his car to drift into the westbound traffic lane. The car sideswiped a vehicle driven by Christie Simington of Jamestown, and then slammed into a car driven by 61-year-old Janet Frueh Mingo of Jamestown. Wright was flown to Memorial Medical Center and Mingo was taken to Doctors Medical Center. Simington was not injured. Highway 108 was shut down for approximately an hour.
Wright was found to have methadone, hydrocodone, methamphetamine and an anti-depressant drug in his system. At the time of the accident Wright was awaiting sentencing for transporting heroin and driving-under-the-influence. He previously pled guilty to another driving-under-the-influence case occurring in early 2012.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Eric Hovatter. Wright faces a possible maximum sentence of 8 years in state prison on this case, with the possibility of an additional 16 months prison for his drug case. Write is currently in custody for testing positive for methamphetamine; his sentencing is scheduled for November 12.
