Davis: Close Prisons, Save Money

Governor Gray Davis wants to shut down five of California´s nine private prisons to save about five million dollars each year. Davis´ plans for the minimum-security facilities are outlined in the state budget. He also suggests the rest of the private prisons be phased out after their contracts expire.
