Wildfire Burning Near Long Barn, Sierra Village

Fire Update: Tuolumne County firefighters still battling a wildfire in the Long Barn/Sierra Village area at this hour. Fire officials say the fire in a heavily-wooded area off Highway 108 near Wheeler Road has burnt about 2-acres. Firefighters at the scene say the fire is moving slowly and is staying mostly on the ground in clover, low vegetation and timber. A structure in the area was threatened but fire officials say the homeowners have good clearance around the house which protected it.. The fire was first reported around 2:15 p.m. this afternoon.
