Yosemite, Ca --The exhibit hall at Yosemite National Park´s Visitor Center opened Friday for the first time since its $1.3 million makeover.

The update replaces 40-year-old exhibits on nature and culture in the Yosemite Valley.

Included is a replica of the base of a giant sequoia, a bear cave, a replica glacier, pullout panels, and animation. There is also a life size statue of John Muir, who is considered by many experts to be the father of the modern conservation effort.

The Yosemite Fund, in partnership with the National Park Service, worked for two years to create the new exhibits entitled "Yosemite: The Stories Behind the Scenes."

“The millions of visitors that start their tour of Yosemite National Park at the Valley Visitor Center now have an experience to understand the scenery,” says Bob Hansen, President of the Yosemite Fund.
