Sonora, CA -- Supervisor Teri Murrsion had the task of casting the deciding vote on whether to implement the state´s medical marijuana identification card program in Tuolumne County.

It is required by Senate Bill 420, however, last year it was not approved because of a two-two vote. Supervisors Liz Bass and Paolo Maffei were in favor, while Mark Thornton and Dick Pland were against. Now that a fifth supervisor is in place, it was Bass´ recommendation to bring the issue back up for a vote.

During the meeting, Murrison said,I think it is very important to be in compliance with state law.” She went on to say,Certainly it is not a statement in favor of decriminalization of marijuana, and it is not a statement that people who are in pain don´t need this…this is what the law says that we have to do, and as leaders I believe that we have to obey the law.”

The motion was approved three-two.
