Yosemite, CA -- A study shows that the landmark Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park doesn't meet modern safety standards and might not hold up in a major earthquake.

The report says the deluxe hotel could use a seismic upgrade that could take around two years to complete.

“Currently it doesn't meet the modern seismic standards, but it doesn't mean that the Ahwahnee isn't safe,” says Park Ranger Kari Cobb. “It is as safe as it was 15 years ago, we have just changed our standards.”

There are currently no immediate plans to update the Ahwahnee Hotel because funding is not available for the project.
