Sonora, CA -- Assemblyman Tom Berryhill has named TuCare Executive Director Melinda Fleming as the "Woman of the Year" for the 25th District.

Every California Assembly member chooses a woman to be honored each year at a ceremony at the state capitol.
"I am really surprised and humbled," says Fleming. "It is very nice honor as there are so many people that do such great things for our community."

The "Woman of the Year" program is designed to honor extraordinary women who diligently work to make their communities a better place to live.

"It is with great respect and admiration that I honor Melinda Fleming for her tireless work and dedication to Tuolumne County and the State of California," states Berryhill. "She stands as a proud example of the great hard working citizens of the 25th Assembly District."

Berryhill praises Fleming for helping to compile a Public Land Use Plan for Tuolumne County and being named the 2006 Conservationist of the Year by the California Forestry Association.
