Dennis Downum speaks in Valley Springs

Valley Springs, CA -- Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum addressed the media today about the multiple random shootings in the Valley Springs area.

Downum says his department is making progress in eliminating suspects, but has yet to make an arrest.

Assisting with the investigation are the C.H.P., A.T.F. and F.B.I.

"They're bringing resources and manpower, which is extremely helpful," says Downum. "They're also bringing some technologies that we certainly didn't have that we hope will help us in the investigation, but we're not going to expand on what those are."

Todd Irinaga with the F.B.I. office in Stockton says, "Our unit is well aware of this case. They have the information to go by right now and they are working with Calaveras County detectives to develop a profile."

No injuries have been reported from the 15 random shootings that have occurred over the past month. There remains a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
