Plan Would Keep Garbage Closer To Home
Tuolumne County´s garbage may soon find a final resting place closer to home.
Supervisor Laurie Sylwester has been working on a plan to take the county´s garbage to Stockton for burial, rather than to a landfill in Nevada.
She says the move would save money because of the shorter distance, and would offset increases in charges by the garbage haulers.
That, she said, would keep rates steady for county customers.
Sylwester said she thinks the deal will be on the Supervisors´ agenda next week. The Supervisors meet in Tuesday.
