Ceres Police Officer's Funeral Today

This morning at 11:30am, the funeral for Ceres Police Sergeant Howard Stevenson will be held.

He was the officer killed in the line of duty by a Marine on leave on January 9th.

Over 1000 police officers, some on motorcycles, are expected to attent the service, and streets around First Baptist Church in Modesto are going to be closed.

Police are recommending local residents and businesses use alleys adjacent to the closed streets to get around. Streets affected by closures include 10th through 14th streets, as well as M, N, and O Streets in Modesto.

Look for the closures to be in effect from 8:30am until about 3 in the afternoon.
