Kids, animals, bikes and airplanes give families plenty to do this weekend in the Mother Lode.
Saturday kids take center stage at the ICES’ 30th Annual Children’s Fair at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora. There will be fun activities for kids, great information for parents, and free entertainment. The event runs from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.
If your interest is planes then head over to the Calaveras Airport Fly-In/Open House Calaveras Air Faire 2014 from 8 am to 5 pm. There will be aircraft and classic cars on display throughout the day and many aircraft will be flying in to celebrate Calaveras Air Faire.
If you like helping a good cause head to Summerville High School then head to the “Together for Diabetes Prevention 5K Fun Walk” this Saturday. This event’s purpose is to raise awareness of the alarming increase in rates of diabetes among young Americans. The walk starts at 9:00 am.
On Sunday, the streets of Sonora will be filled with cyclists to raise money for another great cause. The Sonora Gran Fondo cycling event will benefit the Live Well, Be Well Center in Sonora. Sonora Regional Medical Center sponsors the event in partnership with the City of Sonora. The event kicks off at noon at Sonora High School.
An Earth Day celebrating is another event for the whole family. Calaveras Earth Day Celebration will be held in Utica Park Angels Camp from 11 am to 6 pm rain or shine.
You can fest to help animals. The Humane Society “Casino Roarrral Spring Brunch” will be held at the Sonora Elks Lodge from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm. Enjoy the casino-themed event with both silent and live auctions, and most importantly, a world-class winning Casino Roarrral spring champagne brunch. All proceeds from this event benefit the Humane Society of Tuolumne County animals.
