Top Probation Officer Retires

San Andreas, CA -- Calaveras County's top probation officer is leaving her post. After 24 years with probation department, Teri Hall is retiring as Chief Probation Officer. Hall worked her way up the ladder in the department and in 2010 took over in the top spot. She turns 50 this month and is taking the offer given to law enforcement officers of 3 percent of her final pay for each year served.

"I've grown up in this department and it's been an amazing community to work in and for. My staff has been amazing and has contributed to my success and the success of this department," says Hall.

Hall says her biggest accomplishment is the soon to open New Day Reporting Center. Hall says it will allow parolees a single site where they can check in with their supervising officers, get therapy, services and assistance in living crime-free. The center opens April 1st. Hall says her successor will have a lot on their plate, "AB109 is a front burner issue for the last 18 months. I think that's going to be the biggest thing that they have to understand and interpret. The other issue is always the budget. We have a lot of staffing needs and a lot of department needs that this next Chief will have to address."

Halls last day is March 29th. Stephen Siegel will serve as interim director of the department until Calaveras County's Superior Court judges appoint her successor, which could take several months.
