Forest Seeks Your Input
Stanislaus National Forest
Sonora, CA -- The publicīs ideas, suggestions, and comments are needed to help Stanislaus National Forest complete the preliminary 2014 off highway vehicle grant applications for consideration by the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHVMR) Division.
Forest Recreation Officials have finished two draft grant applications, proposing a total of five off highway vehicle (OHV) projects. Those proposed projects include Forest-wide operation and maintenance of OHV trails and facilities, environmental planning for OHV restoration activities, educational trail signing and barrier placement, routine law enforcement patrols and visitor education, and restoration of areas where illegal OHV use has taken place.
Mi-wuk District Recreation Special Chuck James says, "Our goal is to have a well rounded program that the public is happy with in regards to off highway vehicle recreation."
James says the restoration planning and implementation will take place at various locations on the Forest. The public comment period for grant applications begins March 5, 2013 and ends April 1, 2013. Click here to view the application and comment or call (209) 586-3234.
