Postal Service Ending Saturday Mail
Sonora, CA -- Mail will soon be delivered only five days a week, as the U.S. Postal Service is planning to end Saturday delivery.
The cash-strapped postal service believes it will save $2 billion annually. Last year alone the postal service had a net loss of $15.6 billion. The postal service plans to continue to handle packages on Saturday, but just not deliver mail. The change is expected to take effect in August.
The issue was the focus of a myMotherLode.com poll this past April. 543 people voted, and around 79% were in favor of ending Saturday mail and 21% were in opposition.
A recent national New York Times/CBS News poll also found that 7 in 10 americans support the change.
