Expansion Concerns Neighbors
Tuolumne County, CA -- A local business is looking to expand, but that has some neighbors upset. The Maynord's Recovery Center in Tuolumne County wants to expand its Dove Ridge Home sober living facility. To do that, Maynord's is asking the county's Planning Commission for a conditional use permit to build a second three bedroom home on 9.23 acres across from the recovery center on Cherokee Road. The home would house up to nine clients or staff.
County Deputy Director of Planning and Development Mike Laird says, "We have heard from some of the neighbors who have expressed concerns about this type of facility in their neighborhood. We've tried to address those through recommended conditions of approval, but it's up to the Planning Commission whether they approve it or not."
Laird says those complaints ranged from safety concerns to the new structure being too close to existing homes.
The Community Development Department staff is recommending the commission approve the conditional use permit at its January 16th meeting.
