Brown: 2013 Will Be An Exciting Year

SACRAMENTO, CA (AP) - Gov. Jerry Brown has checked off most of the items from his 2012 to-do list.
He persuaded voters to pass his tax initiative, pushed changes to the public pension system through the Legislature and put California on stronger financial footing.
Now the Democratic governor can turn his attention to the second half of his term and pursue legacy-building achievements.
Brown was Tuesday's KVML "Newsmaker of the Day".
At the top of his agenda are a massive water infrastructure project for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, the heart of the state's water-delivery system, and seeing that the nation's first high-speed rail system gets on track.
Brown told The Associated Press that 2013 will be an exciting year but that he also wants to "keep one foot on the brake" so state spending remains under control.
The "Newsmaker of the Day" is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am.
