Amador County, CA - The Associated Press reports the high price of gold has brought an old California mine back to life. The AP say with the price of gold near historic highs, the first large-scale hard rock gold mining operation will be back in business soon. The California mine has been shut down for half-century.

On Monday, before the financial markets opened, Sutter Gold Mining Officials announced the re-opening with a ceremonial first pour of gold. The mine is located in Sutter Creek in Amador County. Gold is hovering at around 1,700 dollars an ounce.
