CHP Patch
CHP Patch

San Andreas, CA - A recent inspection of child safety seats in Calaveras County found many problems that could put children at risk. The San Andreas Area of the California Highway Patrol says out of eight seats inspected, seven were not installed or working properly.

CHP spokesperson Becky Myers says, "The problems ranged from anywhere from the tightness of the seat in the vehicle to the child being secure in the child seat with the use of the harness. We also had expired car seats or we found the child was in the wrong type of car seat because of their age and weight."

CHP reports state statistics show car seats have been found installed incorrectly 96% of the time.
