Crime - prison bars

Sacramento, CA - The Associated Press reports a panel of federal judges says it won't ease up its order for California to cut its prison population. However, that doesn't mean the state won't get more time to do just that.

The AP says the judges are looking at giving state officials more time to comply. The AP reports California Officials say they won't be able to meet a court-ordered June 2013 deadline. That's when the state needs to have cut 33,000 inmates from the state's 33 adult prisons.

The judges wrote Friday they would consider extending the deadline by six months.
