Three Calaveras Ballot Measures

San Andreas, CA -- Calaveras County Measures B, C, and D are ready for the November ballot.

Measure B is to renew and continue for ten more years a 1991 fee to fund cleaning up abandoned vehicles. The fee of $1.00 on each vehicle and $2.00 dollars for certain commercial vehicles is collected from vehicles registered in the County.

The argument in favor of Measure B states, "This funding has allowed the county to remove approximately 300 vehicles per year from public lands, right of ways, and private properties. Several large dump sites have been removed and frequented dump sites eliminated."

To pass Measure B requires a 2/3 vote in favor.

Measure C is to re-authorize Copperopolis Fire Protection District's $550,000 budget limit for the next four years. Approved in 1997 and 2002 by more than 2/3 of the voters within the District, Measure C will not increase taxes. California's Constitution requires a vote every four years, Measure C must pass by a 2/3 majority.

Measure D applies to the Circle XX Community Services District and asks to increase a special tax from $300 to $400 per property for the next ten years to fund road improvements.
