Possible Garbage Rate Hike
Sonora, CA -- This week the Sonora City Council delayed a vote that could increase what residents pay for Waste Management Services.
The proposal is to raise rates by 2.16% increasing the current average monthly rate by $0.47. So a typical residential subscriber who pays $21.76 would pay $22.23 a month. It is related to the annual Consumer Price Index increase.
The vote was delayed after Councilman Bill Canning asked for information about how much money is raised by the additional recycling collection in the city.
The Council will take up the issue again at its August 6th meeting.
