Yosemite National Park, CA — Over recent years, more people have been cited for marijuana possession in Yosemite than any other national park or federally owned area.
That’s according to an Associated Press study that reviewed data on federal lands dating back to 2009. 939 people were cited with possession of marijuana in Yosemite National Park over that span, the Golden Gate National Recreation area had 902 citations, the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial had 847 and Great Smoky Mountains National Park had 724. The information in the report was provided by the U.S. Courts Central Violations Bureau. It covers national parks, monuments and federal recreation areas.
Other California locations in the top 20 include Whiskeytown National Recreation Area (203), Sequoia and King Canyon National Park (173) and Joshua Tree National Park (137).
