Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors
Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors

Sonora, CA -- A couple of items failed to make the final cut when the Tuolumne County Supervisors voted on how to spend surplus funding.

The county has approximately $1.8 million worth of one-time excess funds this fiscal budget year. $501,145 will go towards various road improvements, $1,069,460 to Juvenile Detention Facility planning, $100,000 for maintenance at the jail, $50,000 to replace the county's website, and $7,000 to stream meeting videos online.

The Supervisors put off spending on items related to debts at the County Airports. $107,341 was proposed to go to the Columbia Armory and $18,968 for the Gibbs Hanger. Supervisors Randy Hanvelt and Evan Royce argued against spending the money at this time because there is not a long-term business plan in place for the airports. The items needed a 4/5 majority for approval.

The only other item that was contentious was the Juvenile Detention Center funding. It was approved 4-1, with Supervisor Royce in opposition.
