Two cold fronts will sweep across Northern California this week.

Breezy winds and light rain will spread across the region Monday and Monday night. Snow levels may briefly drop to around 8500 feet by Monday night. Only a light dusting of snow is expected.

A stronger cold front may spread periods of moderate to heavy rain across the Motherlode on Tuesday night into Wednesday. Isolated thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday afternoon. Rainfall amounts will range from one quarter to three quarters of an inch. Expect gusty winds from fifteen to thirty mph.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from Tuesday evening through Wednesday evening.

Precipitation will begin as one to two inches of rain. Winds will gust from twenty to fifty mph.

Snow levels will drop to around 6000 through 7000 feet. Several inches of snow may fall around 6000 feet. Half a foot to a foot and a half of snow could fall above 7000 feet.

The cold front is expected to move east of the region by Thursday night.
