Yosemite’s Bald Fire Contained

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA — Park officials say that a 200 plus acre vegetation fire in Yosemite National Park is now contained.

Park Spokesperson Jessica Chamberlain says it ended up being around 210 acres. Officials first spotted the fire over the weekend, but believe that it was caused by a lightning strike back on June 5. The fire was 1 ½ miles northwest of Aspen Valley, and was situated in Tuolumne County in a region near the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.

Resources from the Stanislaus National Forest and Sequoia National Park helped extinguish the fire. The blaze was attacked from the air and ground. Mop-up continues today.
