Sonora, CA-- Due to damages caused by the latest March storms, Tuolumne County has declared a Local State of Emergency.

Tuolumne County Director of  Emergency Services John Gray, signed a Declaration of Local State of Emergency on Friday.  Next, the Board of Supervisors will decide if the proclamation should be ratified and if a request for state aid is necessary.

According to the declaration:

"The Director of Emergency Services of the County of Tuolumne does hereby find that conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within said County, caused by multiple back-to-back severe winter storms coupled with prolonged power outages, impassable roads compromised by excessive water/flooding or excessive snow, downed trees and power lines which began Saturday, March 19, 2011."
